Ponec Theatre | Every Wednesday | 5.30–6.45 pm | Ages 12–15
In our classes, participants:
- develop their contemporary dance technique, improvisation and contact improvisation skills,
- create their own movement material and choreographic ideas,
- explore the fundamentals of dance dramaturgy and composition,
- collaborate, exchange ideas and become active co-creators of the creative process,
- work together towards an original dance performance.
The programme is designed for young people who are curious about contemporary dance, eager to develop their movement skills and interested in discovering their own artistic voice. Previous dance experience is not required – curiosity, openness and a willingness to create are what matter most.
Classes combine contemporary dance technique, improvisation and contact improvisation. Participants develop coordination, spatial awareness and partnering skills while discovering movement as a means of communication and self-expression.
A key part of the programme is creative practice. Rather than simply learning choreography, participants become active collaborators in the creative process. They contribute their own ideas, experiment with movement and work together to shape the choreography and its overall dramaturgy.
Over the course of the season, the group creates an original dance performance to be presented to an audience. This gives participants first-hand experience of the entire creative process, from the initial idea and studio research to rehearsals and the final performance.
Alongside their dance training, participants develop creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and the confidence to express themselves through movement.
The first class is free.
