CREVICE: penetrations

We’ve ended up in a place where touch is but an empty trace. Reality and dreams have merged. We no longer recognize the border between our bodies and the space around us. Something must have happened… To us, to the world, to me.

there is silence
a drop of water runs down the wall
is it my sweat?
movement…

We try to understand.
With no outcome…

Authorial dance piece CREVICE: penetration originated as part of the project Unestablished by the tandem formation, Pulsar – Honza Malík and Tereza Krčálová. The project creates space for young authors to engage in artistic dialogue as well as strengthening their artistic, producing and curating skills.

Barbora Ptáčková is a choreographer who has embarked on a complex journey in a complex time – a journey lined with her own personal and artistic intuition, the unsettling events of today and the big questions about our future. She is sincere and genuine, and so too will be her story, which she created together with her dance companions. These are still students at the Duncan Centre Conservatory, as well as an assistant choreographer and costume designer.

The performance gives us a chance to catch a glimpse of current topics resonating in the generation of those in their twenties. It’s an artistic statement that was born out of a subjective experience of the world, and later transformed into a scientific and civic discourse, in which the engagement of individual attitudes and views causes tension that springs from the knowledge that our reality is no longer based on dialogue.

Excuse me!

Accelerated time. Nobody has time to wait. From time to time everybody has to involuntarily stop. But omnipresent stress and rush forces us to keep running. Just because you’re standing still, doesn’t mean you’re not in a hurry. Whatever stops us, it awakes strong emotions.

Endless waiting and acute stress as an impulse for negative manifestation of the human act. The production brings feedback of ourselves, our expressions, reactions and defense mechanisms to cope with stressful situations.

The production mirrors this acute problem of our society with a dose of ease and humor.
