The Secret of Moonlight is an interactive dance environment inspired by the Safe Place concept – a safe and supportive setting where every child is free to be themselves.
The project is designed for children with autism and other developmental differences, toddlers aged 0–3, preschool children and children in their first year of primary school.
Each child is free to explore the space and respond to it in their own way. The environment gently adapts to the child's needs: soft lighting, calm sounds and a slow, flexible rhythm help create a sense of safety while reducing sensory overload.
The performance unfolds as a journey through three sensory worlds – visual, tactile and auditory. Children are free to move, play, explore or simply observe, choosing their own pace and level of engagement. Live music inspired by the sounds of nature deepens the experience, while movement, light and different textures come together as a non-verbal means of communication.
Parents and caregivers are part of the journey, sharing calm moments with their child without pressure or expectations.
Created in collaboration with specialists in inclusion and child development, The Secret of Moonlight offers a space of acceptance where art becomes a source of support and connection, as well as the quiet joy of simply being.
Yana Reutova is a Prague-based dancer and choreographer originally from Chornomorsk near Odesa. After graduating from the Kyiv National Institute of Culture, she founded a successful children’s dance studio in Ukraine, whose students later continued their training at prestigious dance schools across Europe.
For more than four years, she has combined her artistic practice in the Czech Republic with inclusive and community projects focusing on children and vulnerable groups. Her interactive performances for children, On the Way and Time of Childhood, have toured extensively throughout the Czech Republic, with more than 30 and 25 performances respectively.
Her choreographic works include the triptych Together Alone (Lost, Invisible Traces, Paradoxical Bodies), the duet Womanhood and the solo Paradise Birds, created in collaboration with Bulgarian dramaturg Yanitsa Atanasova and premiered at PONEC Theatre in Prague.
Yana Reutova was repeatedly selected for the Czech Dance Platform between 2023 and 2026, most recently in 2026 with Time of Childhood. Her work was also featured at TANEC PRAHA Festival between 2022 and 2026. Internationally, her work has been presented in Italy, Spain, Brazil, Bulgaria, Lithuania, the United Kingdom and Cape Verde through festivals, residencies and platforms including Aerowaves, EFFEA, BPDA – Big Pulse Dance Alliance, Kilowatt Festival, Dança em Trânsito and Dance Umbrella London.
She is currently developing a new inclusive project, The Secret of Moonlight, which will premiere at TANEC PRAHA Festival.
