Tanec Praha is a partner in a project aimed at supporting dance artists living in Ukraine who are interested in comparing their creative processes and experience with artists from the Czech Republic and the UK. Thanks to the support of the British Council, we will welcome 2-5 artists from Ukraine to Prague in April for a 10-day workshop (April 13-22, 2024) to share practice and creative projects. The Place Theater (London, UK) will send 2 artist-mentors and together with the management of Tance Praha will select 2 artist-mentors from the Czech Republic. These 4 artists (mid-career / established artists in the field of choreography and/or dramaturgy) will focus on the selection of workshop participants from Ukraine in January and will plan and lead the April workshop in close cooperation with each other. The workshop is intended primarily for the exchange of experience and good practice, not for a public presentation. However, it can initiate new collaborations and smaller creative projects of selected artists from Ukraine, for which the PONEC theater is ready to offer a creative residency in July and support mentoring by artists from the Czech Republic / UK.

We are therefore opening an open call for experienced artistic personalities working in the territory of the Czech Republic:

Are you a mid-career or established dance artist, choreographer or dramaturg living in the Czech Republic who would like to share their methodology and creative process with a group of dance artists from Ukraine and the UK? Do you have teaching experience and a good level of English? Then write to us!

We are looking for 2 artists interested in artistic exchange for the project Let The Body Speak (International Exchange for Ukrainian, Czech and UK dance artists) organised by Tanec Praha, The Place (UK) and UA Dance Platform. The project will focus on choreographic development, peer exchange and will be an opportunity for dance artists from Ukraine, UK and Czech Republic to come together and share their movement practices. Artists will also be invited to attend the Czech Dance Platform and European Dance Development Network (EDN) Atelier on Dance & Resilience.

The cohort will include 2 artists associated with The Place, and Ukrainian artists selected via Open Call.

Schedule:

Mid-January 2024: selection of artists from UA based on Open Call (together with 2 UK artists) 2 DAYS

April 2024: EDN atelier, followed by residency & workshops with an artist group.* (13/04 - 22/04) 10 DAYS

July 2024: mentoring selected UA artists to complete the creative process with a short performance at the PONEC theater 3 DAYS

*You will be expected to lead class and workshops during the residency time.

Total - 15 days of work

Artist fee: 2.600 CZK/day

Please upload a motivation letter with evidence of teaching practice, a short CV and a link to a video showing your practice by 9am on 20/12 here.

The artists will be selected by 08/01/2024 by representatives of Tanec Praha, The Place and UA Dance Platform.
