CONTEMPORARY DANCE FOR TEENS - INTENSIVE WORKSHOP

16 + 17 + 18 July 2024
STUDIO KRENOVKA

We invite you to an intensive contemporary dance workshop led by experienced instructors and leading creators of the contemporary dance scene - Věra Ondrašíková and Daniel Iemolo. The workshop is intended for all those interested in contemporary dance with at least two years of experience in contemporary dance.

Daniel Iemolo | 14:00 - 15:30

This class is conceived as an exploration of our bodies through spiral dynamics and the approach to the floor. After a guided warm-up, we will dive into exercises and games to enhance rhythm, spatial awareness, fluidity, strength and mobility. Set material will be given to work on memory and to refine movements through repetition and musicality. Class will culminate toward a piece of rhythmic choreography that is both challenging and enjoyable.

Daniel has been dancing since he was nine years old. He studied with the choreographers Robert Zappala and Emma Scialfa. He then moved to England where he studied dance at the Rambert School and at The Place. As a dancer, he has collaborated with many choreographers, such as Paula Pinto (Portugal), Mimmo Miccolis (UK), Dorian Mallia (Malta), Monica Casadei (Italy), and others. Since 2022, he has been collaborating with the ensemble Věra Ondrašíková & collective. First, he participated in the STORIES project and now he also collaborates in the CLOUDS project. He studies dramaturgy at the University of Genoa.

Věra Ondrašíková | 15:45 - 17:15

The lesson focuses on physical movement, floorwork, the infinite energy of the body and its dynamics. You will strengthen your body and develop your own movement capabilities. You will encounter the basics of creating dance choreography. You will make new friends.

Věra graduated from an arts grammar school and then choreography at Prague's HAMU. She has created a number of successful projects, such as Guide (2015) and Witness (2021). The production of Guide won the Audience Award, the Award for Lighting Design and the Dancer of the Year award for Jaro Ondruš at the Czech Dance Platform 2016. In 2017, it was included in the selection of the 20 most interesting European dance projects within the international Aerowaves network and has since been presented at many foreign festivals. Věra currently teaches choreography at the Department of Dance and Movement Techniques at the Department of Nonverbal Theatre of HAMU. In 2022, she founded the ensemble Věra Ondrašíková & collective.

The lessons are interconnected, so we recommend taking all lessons from one instructor.
