Boxing Up invites you to a world of fantasy, in which even seemingly ordinary things turn into something unusual. Just open your eyes, turn on your imagination, get moving and play.

What are all the things that boxes can represent? And what if there are more of them, are if they are of different sizes or if someone lives in them? How can we make them our own? Rearrange them, send them, jump over them, move them, rebuild them or go around them? How do we experience surprises? Are we curious? Who or what is in it? How does it sound? How heavy is it? Can we entrust it with something? Do I know where the box came from and how far did it travel? And where does it belong?

The performance combines dance, live music, performance, elements of improvisation and technology. It introduces children to thinking about space and architecture, the laws of physics, the transport and journey of boxes, but also the importance of wishes and dreams.

Mirka Eliášová graduated from the dance department of HAMU, with a concentration in choreography, in 1997, and immediately started to pursue creative activities. Later, she added doctoral studies at the same Academy, where she also teaches. In addition to performing for children, with whom she has achieved great success, she has produced many other works as well as interesting dance films. She has collaborated with various theatre creators and has long experimented with the Berg Chamber Orchestra, including on site-specific projects.
