Sara Bocchini, Continuo Theatre

Sara Bocchini studied classical dance from the age of 6, later turning her interest towards contemporary dance and physical theatre. She graduated in theatrical sciences in Bologna (IT) and got her bachelor in physical theatre at Accademia Teatro Dimitri (CH). Since 2016 she’s member of Divadlo Continuo (CZ), where she works as performer and theatre pedagogue. The main interest of her artistic research deals with the performer’s presence on the stage, aiming to achieve a state of transparency and exactness, which allows epiphanies to occur through the physical body of the performer and its immersion in the surrounding space.

Continuo Theatre is an international independent theatre group led by Pavel Štourač, its director and art manager. Since 1995 the company has been settled in a little village in South Bohemia called Malovice in a former farmstead called Plum Yard where the members of the company permanently live and work.

Continuo Theatre is a company that holds theatre as a process, need and way of life. Although it is usually characterized as a physical or visual theatre, in fact, it is impossible categorized it according to genres. Their production combines physical and puppet theatre, live music and striking visual stylization. Looking for an authentic and personal expression is typical for Continuo actors‘ work. All these aspects make the poetry of each performance unmistakable.
