It is far from simple to devise a performance on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the foundation of the local theatre. The premiere is drawing near and the concept of the performance, planned in a big way, is crumbling in the director’s hands. Then, the director himself breaks down. He is replaced by a new one, who is comes in with a new concept, but this one does not even survive the first rehearsal. The theatre director’s nerves are shot to pieces, and he adopts more and more drastic measures.

Will the result be a grand costume ballet, a progressive minimalistic work, or popular entertainment with brass music? Which artist will push through his vision? Will they succeed in doing anything at all? And what is really vital about those two centuries of theatre?
