Invitation for Movers Prague: A New International Contemporary Dance - Master Workshop for Emerging Professionals. 

This August, Prague becomes the epicenter of contemporary dance excellence. From August 6-10, 2025, the stage of Ponec - dance venue, will host the first edition of Movers Prague — an intensive, international workshop, crafted for emerging professional dancers ready to push their boundaries.
The MOVERS PRAGUE program brings together top-tier mentors from the global dance scene. Curated by acclaimed Czech dancer Nataša Novotná, this year’s edition proudly features Adi Salant, former co-artistic director of Batsheva Dance Company (Israel), and renowned Czech choreographer and educator Jarek Cemerek. Together, they will share a powerful week of movement research, technical development, and artistic growth in a safe and a positive environment.  

What will happen in Ponec?

Designed specifically for recent graduates and early-career professionals. This workshop provides six hours of classes each day, starting at 1 PM. This allows dancers to immerse themselves in training while enjoying summer in Prague. Beyond warm-up class, technical research, and choreography, the program includes a lecture on nutrition tailored for dancers and a physiotherapy lecture by Jiri Cumpelik, emphasizing a sustainable and informed approach to a physically demanding profession.

Who do we aim for?

Dancers and dance students, aged 17- 23, are most welcome to register. Applicants will be selected based on a submitted CV and dance video. The register closes by June 22, 2025, All participants will be notified of results by June 24, 2025. Participation is limited to 24 dancers, ensuring an intimate and focused learning environment.

Schedule:

daily
- 1h warm-up class with Nataša - 3x Gaga dancers class, 2x Ballet class
- break 15 mins.
- 2.5h contemporary techniques and choreography with Jarek
- break 30 mins.
- 2.5h contemporary techniques and choreography with Adi.
Lectures on Nutrition and Physiotherapy will follow your 30-minute break.
On the last day, ending with a presentation and an open talk.
 

Movers Prague Fee:

The workshop fee is 8,500 CZK / 350 EUR. It will be requested by mail after June 7.  Offering one friendly price for a week of world-class training and mentoring.

ADI SALANT 

Adi is an internationally acclaimed choreographer, dance educator, and mentor, known for her insightful and deeply human approach to movement. She creates for dance companies and projects worldwide, her works are performed internationally. With a strong passion for education, Adi guides dancers across the professional spectrum, helping them grow artistically and personally.

LIM – Life Is Moving - is at the heart of her teaching and creative process. Gathered over three decades of professional experience, LIM invites dancers to explore their awareness, refine their presence, and embody the full expressive potential of movement.

Adi’s journey began at the age of six, and she has been immersed in the world of dance ever since. She trained for 12 years at the prestigious Bat-Dor Dance School and graduated with honors from Alon High School for the Arts. She then joined the Young Batsheva Ensemble, which was followed by five celebrated seasons as a dancer with the Batsheva Dance Company.

After her performing career, Adi became the primary assistant to Ohad Naharin, staging his works internationally. From 2009 to 2017, she served as Co-Artistic Director of the Batsheva Dance Company alongside Naharin, continuing to shape the company’s creative direction and global influence.

Adi was one of the first Gaga-certified teachers of Gaga, Naharin’s movement language, and has taught Gaga Dancers and Gaga People classes worldwide. She also served as Artistic Director of several Gaga intensive programs.

She completed her B.Ed in Dance at the Kibbutzim College of Education and was Head of the Dance Department at Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts (2019–2020). Today, she continues to share her deep knowledge and artistic vision through choreography, teaching, and mentoring.


JAREK CEMEREK 

Jarek is an established choreographer, teacher, and dancer working around the world. Jarek enters the studio each time with a high level of passion for dance, which becomes contagious. As a teacher and choreographer, he shares the space in a dynamic atmosphere, initiating and open for discussion. His lesson aims to encourage a sense of body awareness and efficiency, as well as physical articulation. Special emphasis is placed on healthy body mechanics, principles of physical laws, and effective use of weight.

Jarek began his artistic career as a classical ballet dancer at the Ostrava NDM, already as a student. He soon switched to contemporary dance and got engaged at Tanztheater Wien, Compagnie Thor in Brussels, Willi Dorner Compagnie in Vienna, Stadttheater Bern, etc. For the Royal Opera House in London, he danced the main role in Echo and Narcissus and collaborated with other foreign choirs and choreographers such as Hofesh Schechter, Alexander Ekman, and Crystal Pite. 

In 2011, he received both awards at the Czech Dance Platform - Dancer of the Year and Dance Production of the Year, for his duet Void Amongst Humans. 

As a choreographer, for example,  at the Sadler's Wells Theater in London, he created the performance Void for the dance company BalletBoyz. For the new circus company in Prague, the performance The Loser(s), remaining in their repertoire for eleven years. He was invited to the Juilliard School in New York or the Boston Conservatory. 

As a teacher, he received a professorship at the Bruckner University in Linz, which awarded him an extraordinary award for his work; he worked at leading art schools,

In addition to the aforementioned, for example at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, New Zealand School of Dance, Ballet Junior de Genève, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Codarts Rotterdam, KHiO Oslo, Palucca Schule in Dresden or Korea National University of Arts, but also in dance ensembles such as DV8, Cullberg Ballet, Carte Blanche, NorrDans, Gothenburg Opera Dance Company, etc. Many dance institutions invite him as a choreographer and teacher, or he is invited to the juries of international competitions.

NATAŠA NOVOTNÁ 

Nataša is a Czech dancer,  teacher, and choreographer, awarded for her interpretation and creation.  She is involved in the support and promotion of dance and movement across genres and styles, and motivates towards an understanding and supportive professional establishment.  In contemporary dance, she represents the direction of physical virtuosity;  coaching a steady group of dancers - Ballet NDM in Czechia; certified teaching Gaga-movement language or classical ballet classes; creating occasionally. Her organic creations suggest her instinct to connect to the natural environmental forces, pointing towards the real power of relief through movement. 

Nataša graduated from the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava, where she also gained her first stage experience.  She started her professional career in the Netherlands, successively in the ensembles of Nederlands Dans Theater 2 and 1, then in Sweden's Göteborgs Operan Ballet. She collaborated and created with leading world contemporary choreographers such as Jiří Kylián, Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Cristal Pyte, and many others.

After a decade of professional experience abroad, she started her independent career. In Prague, she co-founded the contemporary dance group 420people. Representing the position of executive director, dancer, and choreographer for almost another decade. Subsequently, she founded the Kylián Foundation in Prague, where she focused on passing on the legacy to emancipate dance, with respect for its history and with the will to seek new paths.

As a lecturer, she systematically coaches the ballet ensemble of the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre in Ostrava; leads the Kylián workshop program for conservatories, imparts knowledge at universities and companies, and also internationally. So far, she is the only one in the Czech Republic who teaches Gaga movement language, developed in Israel by Ohad Naharin. 

As a choreographer, she is interested in transmitting information primarily through the quality of movement and the search for new forms, in relation to the chosen topic in the given environment.

For her stage performances, she received several nominations, the prestigious Thalia Award, and the Dancer of the Year Award. She was awarded for her choreography of the ballet Škrtič by the Czech critics.
