Call for participation in the NIBIRU project by Hungarian artists!

PONEC – 7 – 15 September 2019

NIBIRU is a project by Hungarian artists Tamara Zsófie Vadas (dancer, choreographer, teacher), Ábris Gryllus (interdisciplinary media artist and musician) and Márton Emil Tóth (visual artist). As part of the European project BeSpecACTtive! they will create in the PONEC Theatre. During this artistic residency they will lead a workshop with a final performance for which they are looking for girls ages 9 – 15.

The collaboration includes intensive work together with artists on the weekends of 7 & 8 September and 14 & 15 September 2019 and in the meantime during the week about 2 hours a day in the afternoon.

The final performance will be held on 15 September 2019 in the afternoon at PONEC.

Join us for the workshop if:

  • you like to move and express yourself in movement
  • you have any dance experience and are interested in improvisation
  • you've never danced before, but you enjoy free, creative dance
  • you're interested in music or any original sound creation
  • you're interested in the visual side of things and the possibility of creating space according to your own imagination
  • you are a girl between the ages of 9 and 15
  • you are curious and like to create in a group

What we expect:

  • a few sentences about you and your relationship with dance or theatre (sound or scenography)
  • a short video (max. 1 min.) in which you dance to music you have chosen

About the workshop

Legend has it that Nibiru is the tenth planet in the solar system, and if it collides with Earth, life in its present form will cease to exist. This idea is the springboard for a workshop where we will imagine what might subsequently happen on earth. Artists will present real and imagined fears about the planet's future, uncertainty about childhood, and the rituals of transforming a child into an adult – in a playful and fictitious structure. Nibiru offers the possibility of a new start (reboot) in a post-human world in which prejudice and isolation are replaced by spontaneous creation.

In the workshop we will focus on:

  • movement improvisation on thematically determined space and use of space
  • creation of thematic space and dance improvisation
  • thematic vocalization and singing
  • creation of thematic masks
  • discussion: ideas about the end of the world, rituals, women's communities, the real dangers to the planet

Who are we looking for?

Young people (10 – 16 years old) who enjoy dancing and are interested in doing it more intensively and creatively or who want to learn more about it.

What will happen?

This group will be in contact with peers from Slovakia, because we cooperate with the Divadelná Nitra festival on this project. Together they will select the artists they would like to work with and the topic they are interested in. They will then be able to experience the process of creating a new performance with the selected artist.

To start we would like to invite you to the TANEC PRAHA Festival from 8 to 10 June and we offer you the first opportunity to meet with peers from Slovakia!

What can you expect?

  • Free admission to performances at the TANEC PRAHA Festival
  • workshops and discussions with artists, from which you will select the creators of the new project in June

Where and when?

Young viewers from Nitra will come to Prague on 8 June and will be here until 10 June 2019 during the TANEC PRAHA Festival
