Tanec Praha is a partner in Erasmus + project focusing on art therapy. Through a series of workshops, experts in the field from Czechia and Slovakia, will share their practice with artists from Ukraine as well as others interested in art therapy and/or contemporary dance. Workshops will equip participants with innovative approaches and methodologies that will be useful in the post-war reconstruction of the country as well as their own creative practice.
The weekend workshops will be focused on three art forms - dance, visual arts and film - and will be followed by an opportunity of mentoring by our experts.
Each workshop will include practice, theory, work with case studies and space for discussion. Movement work will take place with live musical accompaniment and creative musical techniques in collaboration with musicians or music therapists.
There are 15 places for live participants but we are also open to online participation.
Tanec Praha is able to offer travel bursaries for selected Ukrainian artists from nearby countries.
Please complete the online form if you are interested.

Dance
The course is intended for creators, dancers, educators who want to expand the spectrum of their possibilities in their practice, to enrich it with some principles of dance movement therapy, and use them in creative work with groups. The goal is to use the healing potential of the creative process and improve the quality of life in communities. Every one the learning session will include a self-experience part, theory, work with case studies and space for discussion. Movement work will take place in collaboration with live musical accompaniment and creative musical techniques in collaboration with musicians or music therapists.
Visual Arts
The module will be focused on art therapy, i.e. on the possibilities of using art as a tool for self-discovery, when working on yourself or when solving various problems or challenging situations. Art therapy is based on the assumption that artistic and creative activity has healing potential, i.e. that the very creation of an art artifact can bring some form of relief. At the same time, creative activity can mediate the release and reaction of negative emotions, but also contribute to finding and grasping our own resources or to creating something new, more functional, more joyful, etc. Participants will try some art therapy techniques on their own, the core of the work will be mainly techniques such as watercolor and collage.
Film
The workshop will be interactive. The goal is to learn how to work with your clients so that clients can improve their quality of life. We will introduce artists to the principles, techniques and exercises of film therapy that make this possible. Creativity is important. Creativity heals and has a therapeutic effect.
For the artist, this seminar will be self-experiential. They will receive information about the history and theory of film therapy and learn about client case studies, which we will present as examples.
