Eymen – Point of View (art documentary by Dominik Žižka)
The collaboration of artists from different continents brings new experiences and themes as well as diverse perspectives. In Africa, the eldest are naturally the most respected members of the family and society, and their departure from life is the most important celebration of wisdom, experience and goodness. How do perceptions of death and finality of life differ or meet in places as unalike as Ghana and the Czech Republic?
Lenka Kniha Bartůňková and Ridina Ahmedová travelled to Accra, Ghana in 2019 and conducted and recorded interviews on the topic of "death" with people from various walks of life. Thus began the creative process of this project. They then proceeded to collect audio interviews in the Czech Republic. In June 2019, they rehearsed an original performance with dancers from Ghana, the Czech Republic and seniors that toured at the TANEC PRAHA 2019 festival. Covid stopped the project in 2020, but in the summer of 2021 the Ghanaian version was staged directly in Accra. Dominik Žižka captured the most powerful moments from it. The premiere of his art documentary is presented at the TANEC PRAHA 2022 festival.
Sena Atsugah: Gbei!
Do you also sometimes hear voices in your head? In the solo Gbei! that advances the image of ,,afro contemporary dance“ they speak to us through the body and movement of Ghanaian dancer Sena Atsugah. They come from the past, present and future, but we don’t have to be afraid of them, to try to get rid of them or ignore them. Let’s start a dialogue and let ourselves be transported into other worlds, or directly into ourselves.
English is used in the performance.
The performance is followed by a moderated discussion with the artists.
